CAMERAS IN MOTION
RTS Products
"Since 2004, RTS Rail & Tracking Systems faces the challenge of developing new ideas and solutions in the realm of advanced camera movement."
RTS MagCam

MagCam

Intelligent, gyro stabilized, remote dolly system with lifting column.
MagCam is able to autonomously follow a previously defined route by means of sensors, including the possible implementation of forks, alternative routes and full circles.
The route is defined by a thin magnetic tape adhered on top or underneath existing floor covering rendering it almost invisible and can be altered to changing requirements at any time.
In addition to this, it is possible to switch to free-running mode at any time to realize any conceivable recording situation and react to changing conditions in a matter of seconds.
MagCam is also equipped with emergency stop sensors and a surrounding protection frame to automatically prevent collisions and meet all applicable safety requirements for any live production environment.
System control, camera telemetry, audio and up to 4K image signals can be transmitted via an integrated radio link, enabling uncomplicated and low-interference operation of the camera system.
MagCam can be operated with a wide variety of camera and remote head setups, making it one of the most sophisticated and versatile camera motion systems in the world.

Rail Systems

Computer controlled rail system

The TrackRunner is a versatile rail system providing precise control over slow or high speed camera movements. It is a rope driven system capable of olympic sprinter speeds. The computer precisely controls the dolly movement so it is always in the right place on the track at the right time, bringing it to a safe and controlled stop at the end of each move.

The extremely lightweight and multifunctional camera dolly has a new type of cable management system. Not only does it manage all the cable within the confines of the track itself, the system implements a special coating which helps make the TrackRunner a particularly smooth running system. By using the internal cable management system, the need for radio links can be avoided. Batteries are not needed because the dolly, as well as the camera, has a direct hard-wired connection.

The TrackRunner can be used in both outdoor operation and in studio work. It also works great over long distances and at high speeds. The TrackRunner is always at the right place at the right time. The system can be combined with curved rails while still using the internal cable management. In addition, our CamTower or LiftArm add-on accessories are great for on air moves or simply height adjustments.

Rail system with self-driven dolly

This system has most features of the TrackRunner, like an integrated cable management system (energy chain) – but without the rope. With its black precision rails, versatile special dollies, and smooth-running performance, it is the ideal system for in studio and on stage productions, such as award shows, concerts, etc.

The system can be combined with curved rails and our CamTower or LiftArm for on-air vertical moves.

In addition to that, a slot adapter is available, which allows the camera to move under or through stage elements while the dolly or rail is not visible.

Compact rail system

The TrackRunner Mini is a miniaturized version of the TrackRunner ENT. It features a compact and minimalistic design that is perfect for use on stage or wherever a discrete system is needed. The TrackRunner Mini also uses the award-winning RTS cable management system with internal cable management. Despite the considerably smaller size of the TrackRunner Mini, it can operate at speeds up to 3.5 m/s (11.5 feet per second).

RopeClimber

Rail-winch system / 2D-system

The RopeClimber from RTS is a unique rail-winch system that allows two-dimensional camera movements (horizontal and vertical). Due to its special design, the RopeClimber can make fantastic shots by moving through the space, dropping below obstructions like lights and then rising up again to make the most of any given space. The RopeClimber has the added advantage of working well in rooms with low ceiling height. Due to the fact that it rides along a rigid suspended track – and not ropes pulled taut – The RopeClimber maintains a maximum height across the entire move.

Tracks are available in lengths of up to 100m (328 feet). The dolly’s winch lowers the gyroscopically stabilized camera system up to 24 meters (78 feet) at any point along the track. This makes it possible to lift over obstacles and realize space-saving and inconspicuous lifting and lowering movements.

The RopeClimber is also characterized by its extremely smooth operation, and the completely wired and redundant systems work to ensure maximum safety and reliability.

RTS CamTower

CamTower

Tower system with vertical stroke

The RTS CamTower is a remote-controlled, telescopic lifting column, which moves the camera at a variable speed of up to 1.3m/s in a vertical direction.

The tower is computer controlled, providing the operator soft deceleration at the top and bottom of the tower’s range, which avoids any abrupt stops.

This precision makes the system particularly quiet and smooth.

The system is available in different sizes to suit a wide variety of applications and situations.

SpeedWinch

Highspeed winch system / 1D-system

SpeedWinch from RTS is a completely new winch system designed for extremely fast vertical camera travel. Even at a speed of up to 7 m/s, the image remains perfectly stable and balanced because the system can be equipped with a fully-stabilized 5-axis remote head.

The extremely robust ropes ensure a great deal of safety with a load of up to 80kg (175lbs) for both remote head and camera.

A special gear unit design ensures a particularly high level of operation smoothness. The RTS SpeedWinch operates over hard-wired power and data connections for robust and solid communication/operation in even the most demanding venues where wireless often fails. Venues like sporting events and concerts often have massive wireless overloads. Our solution ensures confident and continuous operation while performing extraordinary and dynamic camera moves that even the film industry can appreciate.

According to BGV C1, SpeedWinch is approved for operation over audiences.

Further Systems

Customized systems for any application

One of the unique features of RTS is our ability to provide tailor-made solutions for almost every conceivable application in the world of moving cameras. And if a solution can’t be found in the pool of already existing systems, a completely new concept can be developed for your needs.

One example of our ability to create and innovate is the turntable for 360° rotation in high speed, which moves a camera around a subject very quickly for slow motion photography. Another example is our special gyroscopically stabilized rigs for 3D and 360° camera shots on helicopters. We also designed and built our rope systems from scratch based on industry need.

For our rail systems, it is possible to choose from several available curved radii or, if required, also to manufacture custom-made rails with specific shapes creating S-curves or full circles.

Rail & Tracking Systems is characterized by this creativity and inventor spirit. Since our inception in 2004, our goal has been to provide excellence in the design of new systems – whether on land, on water, or in air.

Stabilized aerial cinematography
